Doing yoga makes you feel better.

How exactly does it work?

Can yoga be helpful for prevention or even treatment of physical and psychological problems?

In this two-part master class, Irina Simanova will first present an overview of recent research on the critical components of yoga: meditation, breathing, and movement. She will summarize what the Western science does and does not know about the effects of these practices. There will be lots of room for questions and discussion. The science-part will be followed by a 1-hour hatha yoga session. This will be a low-pace practice, with the main focus on breathing and movement awareness. She will link the postures and the breathing excercises with the theory from the first half of the masterclass, so that you will learn how to integrate the scientific knowledge into your yoga practice or teaching.

ABOUT THE GUEST TEACHER

Dr. Irina Simanova is a neuroscientist and a yoga teacher. She sees yoga practice as exciting scientific exploration.
