ABOUT LIH LAH YOGA

Cindy Dieteren (1981)

​

Beginning 2011 I had my first Yoga class. Although it was very challenging, it also provided me with a deep relaxation, and I really enjoyed this combination. Since then, Yoga has been a playful practice to better understand my self and to gain more control over my body and mind. In 2013, I started to combine Yoga practice with a Zen meditation training and in February 2016, I followed a registered Yoga Teacher Training Course in the tradition of Swami Sivananda in an ashram in India. To keep learning and growing in my practice and knowledge, I regularly follow workshops by inspirational Yoga teachers. I find it very gratifying and fun to share my Yoga experience with others. During my classes, I like to remember the habit "Santosh", which stands for "being grateful and satisfied with what you have, while working towards what you want".

Lih Lah is deduced from the Sanskrit word "Leelah", which can be translated as "cosmic play" or "molecular dance". This covers in one word a fascination for life which motivated me to be trained as a molecular biologist. Besides, it sounds joyful to me, which is one of the main aspects how I would like my yoga classes to be experienced.

I truly enjoy practicing yoga with Cindy! She is very well prepared to each course, and it is well apparent that she takes our comments or specific wishes into account during her preparations. We first discuss some of the concepts in a very open, non judgmental environment and then start with breathing exercises. The courses are structured very well, and Cindy always emphasizes that we should listen to our body while practicing yoga. Every single time after the yoga class with Cindy, I felt so good (physically but also mentally) and I was so happy that I actually joined to the course! Highly recommended! Kübra

I have been practicing yoga with Cindy for the past 5 years and I barely miss a class! Cindy is preparing her classes with a lot of creativity and care, which makes the sessions unique and fun. There is always a new element in the class. My posture, breathing and core strength have improved massively. Cindy guides you clearly and corrects your posture when needed, during the class. Her kind and warm personality, the atmosphere in the chapel and Piojo (the cutest & friendliest dog ever) make Cindy's class unbeatable! I highly recommend! - Katia

Cindy's classes have become essential in my weekly routine! Cindy prepares every class very accurately, with the perfect amount of power exercises, breathing techniques and relaxation. I follow her classes for about 3 years and everytime they are different and always full of surprises. Every Thursdays after her classes I feel good, even if that day was a very stressful one! Just join us! These classes of yoga are the best, one of my favourite weekly activities in Nijmegen. Cindy’s classes are really well prepared, one hour and a half, which is the perfect time to go from hard exercise to relaxation and even yoga philosophy. The location is extremely special, the class is in a small chapel and with the unconditional company of Piojo (Cindy's lovely dog) which makes the atmosphere even better. Also, you can decide every week if you join or not, so quite flexible. Lovely yoga. - Cristina

Highly recommend! Cindy's classes are great and easy to start with but can get challenging enough if you're already an experienced yogini. Personally, one of the best things for me is that the class is being held in English, so it's really convenient if you're not local. - Julius

I started attending Cindy's class in 2017; I had just moved to the Netherlands and needed a class in English. My Dutch is now much better but I will always choose Cindy's classes. I am older than your typical yogi but that doesn't matter at all. You do what you can, modify where necessary, amongst kind and friendly fellow yogis, and with clear, expert advice from Cindy. Cindy's yoga classes are absolutely amazing! Cindy is a wonderful teacher who really gets to know her students, which makes for a really personal class. There are people who attend at all yoga levels and Cindy always makes sure that all poses are adjusted to the right level for what you feel you can do. At the end of each class I feel relaxed and rejuvenated. The chapel location is lovely - the perfect location for yoga. And the small class size really feels like we all get to know each other. I've been surprised by how far I have advanced in the classes, which are a mix of stretching and relaxation poses, and more dynamic and challenging poses. Cindy's lessons are great! There's just the right mix of relaxation and stretching, combined with a couple of challenging poses each week that you can take at your own pace, with Cindy's gentle, kind encouragement. The classes are a mix of beginners and more experienced students, but no one ever feels inadequate; everything is done with friendliness and good humour, and most people leave surprised what they can do with Cindy's careful instruction. Students come from a range of different countries, and speak a range of languages, but Cindy's English is clear and excellent, so easy to follow. I fully recommend the classes. - Caroline

I don't have much experience with yoga classes, but with Cindy's lessons it was love at first attendance :) The perfect balance between workout, relaxation, stretching and self-awareness. The winter location is perfect - the attic in the small chapel is very cozy and helps you get in the right mood. Cindy is a very hard working and focused teacher which makes her classes extra ordinary. She knows her subject well. She remembers her students injuries and take a good care of them. Her calm, peaceful and gentle personality creates a very positive environment in her class and which help her students to relax and benefit more from there practice.
