Last week Piojo and I were invited to give a 2 hours Yoga & Meditation session for neuroscientists at their retreat. It was a great pleasure and honour! I personally think that great science can only be done with an open, creative mind. From this perspective, I strongly believe that science can benefit a lot from mindfulness techniques like yoga and meditation (and vice versa!). Having a background as a scientist myself, I know how stressful a job in research nowadays can be. I wished that I regularly practiced yoga and meditation when I did my PhD and my first postdoc when I wrote grants. I would have wasted less time on worrying and would have been more focussed on actually DOING the research.....So it made me truly happy to see that the groupleader allowed space for a mindfulness session on their research retreat!
